    Job Description

    The Contract Security Coordinator has direct leadership over the Contractor’s security team and reports directly to the Shell Security Manager or designate in their absence.


    1. a) The Contract Security Coordinator will provide coverage, during holidays/illnesses, for the Shell Security Manager. This may entail this individual being on-call for emergency or security inquiries.
    2. b) The Contract Security Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and coaching of new security personnel, assessing all security personnel on knowledge and competence, execution of the Contractor’s and Shell’s Safety Management programs, and responsible for the day to day operation of the security personnel.
    3. c) The Contract Security Coordinator is to provide support to the Security team on all HSE matters, including but not limited to: investigations of injury/illness, completion of Learning From Incidents packages, promoting the safety culture by ensuring it is re-enforced throughout the security organization.
    4. d) The Contract Security Coordinator is also responsible for, in coordination with the Shell Security Manager, the development and implementation of security policies, programs and contingency plans to minimise the security risks to all businesses within the facility.
    5. e) The Contract Security Coordinator may also be responsible for hosting security awareness training sessions, investigations for site incidents and other duties as prescribed by the Shell Security Manager or designate.



    • Create/Present presentations as required on various Security topics to groups as required
    • Ensure compliance with all Federal, and Provincial laws,
    • Maintain expert knowledge of security related trends and developments
    • Liaise with local law enforcement when required
    • Provide security related support in any site incidents as required
    • Responsible for the handling and safeguarding of Security sensitive information,

    • Possess both excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Have the ability to make sound decisions using all available information;

    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including communicating effectively;
    • Work in a fast-paced environment and be able to work under pressure;
    • Ensure the confidentiality of all records containing personal information;  
    • Display the ability to work with and interpret facility maps;
    • Possess strong HSSE leadership skills.
    • Demonstrate an excellent attendance record
    • Public Speaking


    Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • Previous corporate or private security related experience.
    • A good knowledge of criminal and civil law.
    • A good knowledge of security risk assessment processes and security risks and countermeasures in the petroleum industry.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the company.
    • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
    • ICS 100, 200, 300 an asset
