As an Unarmed Security Officer at an educational location, you will monitor and patrol campus areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond to security-related concerns with integrity, teamwork, and the caring, reliable approach of Allied Universal.


Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $18.00 / Hour

  1. Valid Driver's License:

    • All candidates must possess a valid driver's license in accordance with the AU Driver Policy Requirements (C123). This is essential for roles that require driving as part of job responsibilities.
  2. Access Control/Badge Experience:

    • Candidates should have experience with access control systems and badge management (B201). Familiarity with these systems is crucial for maintaining security protocols within the organization.
  3. Alarm Panel Experience:

    • Experience with alarm panel systems (B202) is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of alarm operations and emergency response procedures.
  4. Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet:

    • Proficiency in using computers or tablets (B204) is necessary. Candidates must be comfortable navigating software applications and performing tasks digitally.
  5. CPR Certification:

    • Candidates must obtain CPR certification. Allied Universal will provide free training for this certification (B205). This is vital for ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and staff.
  6. Customer Service Experience:

    • A background in customer service (B219) is preferred. Candidates should exhibit strong communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent service to clients and colleagues.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out site-specific procedures, campus policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of academic buildings, parking areas, residence areas, and campus perimeter to help identify and report unusual conditions.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols.
  • Assist with access control, visitor direction, and traffic or parking-related concerns while maintaining a professional presence throughout the location.
  • Document incidents, observations, and patrol activities accurately and communicate relevant information to campus representatives and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
