Job Description


As a Security Officer Armed Patrol Response in Norristown, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Armed Patrol Officer supporting a dynamic technology, media, and telecommunications location. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, respond to security-related concerns, and deliver professional customer service through clear communication. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $24.00 / Hour

  • 21+ Years of Age (C101)
    Candidates must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application. This requirement is in place to ensure compliance with legal regulations and company policies.

  • Security Experience - 1+ Years (C115)
    Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of relevant security experience. This experience should be documented and verifiable, demonstrating the candidate's capability to perform the duties required for the position.

  • Act 235 Qualification (Pennsylvania Only) (C134)
    Candidates applying for positions in Pennsylvania must have completed the Act 235 qualification. This certification is mandatory for individuals seeking to carry a firearm in the course of their employment and must be presented during the application process.

  • Access Control/Badge Experience (B201)
    Candidates must demonstrate experience with access control systems and badge management. This includes familiarity with security protocols and procedures related to access control.

  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204)
    Candidates should possess basic computer skills and be comfortable using a computer or tablet for daily tasks. Proficiency in relevant software applications is preferred.

  • Customer Service Experience (B219)
    Candidates must have prior customer service experience, showcasing their ability to interact positively with clients and resolve issues effectively.

  • Lift Up to 20 lbs (B208)
    Candidates should be physically capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds as part of their job responsibilities.

  • Valid Firearms Permit (B217)
    Candidates applying for positions that require the use of firearms must possess a valid firearms permit. Proof of certification must be provided during the hiring process.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and/or other stakeholders at a technology, media, and telecommunications operations location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, access points, parking areas, utility infrastructure, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access control systems, cameras, alarms, and communications equipment; verify credentials; and maintain awareness of personnel and vehicle activity entering or leaving the location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, suspicious activity, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and coordinating with Allied Universal leadership and emergency services as needed.
  • Document patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related activities in required reports, logs, and electronic systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Possess an Act 235 qualification in Pennsylvania.
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds, preferred.
  • Possess a valid firearms permit, preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
