Job Description


As a Security Officer Residential Community Control Access, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer at a shelter location, where you will help manage entry and exit activity, verify authorized access, maintain a visible presence, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate professionally, and report security-related concerns while contributing through teamwork, integrity, reliability, and a caring people-first culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers at a shelter location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
  • Monitor and control access to the location by verifying credentials, managing visitor entry, maintaining access logs, and reporting unauthorized entry attempts or irregular activity.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entry points, common areas, and the perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Document incidents, observations, and access-control activity accurately and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city-issued security license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
