Job Description


As a Security Officer Armed Patrol Act 235 in Pennsburg, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Armed Security Officer supporting a technology, media, and telecommunications environment, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support access control activities. You will deliver exceptional customer service, communicate professionally, and respond to situations with integrity. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $25.00 / Hour

  • Age Requirement:
    Candidates must be at least 21 years of age (C101). This requirement is in place to ensure compliance with legal regulations and to maintain a responsible workforce.

  • Security Experience:
    Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of security experience (C115). This experience should be relevant to the position being applied for and may include roles in law enforcement, private security, or related fields.

  • Act 235 Qualification (Pennsylvania Only):
    Candidates applying for positions in Pennsylvania must have completed the Act 235 qualification (C134). This certification is necessary for individuals who will be carrying firearms as part of their job responsibilities.

  • Access Control/Badge Experience (B201):
    Candidates should have prior experience with access control systems and badge management. This includes familiarity with issuing, tracking, and managing access badges for employees and visitors.

  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204):
    Proficiency in using computers or tablets is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to navigate software applications, manage emails, and utilize digital tools effectively.

  • Customer Service Experience (B219):
    A background in customer service is required. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with clients and colleagues.

  • Lift Up to 20 lbs (B208):
    Candidates must be physically capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds as part of their job responsibilities.

  • Valid Firearms Permit (B217):
    For positions that require handling firearms, candidates must possess a valid firearms permit. This includes compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding firearm possession and use.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a critical technology and communications operations location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points, verify credentials, maintain visitor and contractor logs, and report access-control issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Carry authorized equipment in accordance with Allied Universal policies, applicable laws, and site-specific post orders, and complete required incident documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • Act 235 qualification is required for positions in Pennsylvania.
  • A valid firearms permit is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
