Job Description


As a Security Officer Patrol in Reading, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a government service center, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for visitors and staff. You will provide professional customer service, communicate clearly, and document activity using available technology. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $16.75 / Hour

  • Security Experience (C115):
    Candidates must have a minimum of one year of relevant security experience. This experience should demonstrate the ability to handle security-related tasks and responsibilities effectively.

  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204):
    Candidates must be proficient in using computers or tablets. This includes familiarity with basic software applications, internet navigation, and the ability to learn new technologies as required by the job.

  • Customer Service Experience (B219):
    Candidates must possess prior customer service experience. This experience should reflect the ability to interact positively with customers, resolve issues, and provide assistance in a professional manner.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government service center by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and policies.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with established procedures, directing individuals to appropriate service areas as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and/or emergency personnel when required.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and security-related observations accurately and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
