Life doesn’t always follow a fixed schedule. That’s why we created the Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position: a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career with the industry leader.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol Documentation in Reading, PA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.


Pay Rate: $16.75 / Hour

  • Security Experience (C115):
    Candidates must have a minimum of one year of relevant security experience. This includes, but is not limited to, roles in security management, loss prevention, or related fields. Candidates should provide documentation or references to verify their experience.

  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204):
    Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in using computers or tablets. This includes familiarity with basic software applications, internet navigation, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Candidates may be required to complete a skills assessment during the interview process.

  • Customer Service Experience (B219):
    Candidates should possess prior customer service experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment. This experience should highlight the candidate's ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and provide exceptional service to clients or customers. References or examples of past customer service roles may be requested.

How This Role Works:

  • Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
  • Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government service center by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of public areas, offices, entrances, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points, observe visitor activity, and assist with maintaining orderly entry and exit in accordance with site procedures.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, and irregular conditions through clear and accurate reports, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
