Job Description


As a Corrections Security Officer - Full Time in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine vehicle and foot patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and report security-related concerns. A valid driver’s license is required for this driving post. You will provide professional customer service and communication while supporting a caring, reliable team that acts with integrity and embraces innovation.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities within a government corrections environment.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual conditions, unauthorized activity, and security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access to assigned areas, verify authorization as directed by site procedures, and maintain awareness of visitor, contractor, and vehicle activity.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site personnel and emergency services as required by post orders.
  • Prepare accurate reports, logs, and incident documentation, and communicate observations and security-related concerns to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
