Job Description


As a Security Guard NYS Licensed Patroller in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help discourage incidents. In this people-first role, you will support a welcoming environment through strong communication, customer service, and teamwork, while bringing agility, reliability, innovation, and integrity to daily security-related responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, shelter location policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities for residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation and clear communication when interacting with individuals in need of assistance.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter spaces, to help identify unusual activity and/or security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, help to deter unauthorized entry, and report maintenance issues, hazards, and/or policy violations to site leadership.
  • Document observed activity, incidents, and/or resident or visitor interactions in detailed reports, and communicate relevant updates to Allied Universal management and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
