Job Description


As a Security Officer Patrol Operations in Salem, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a utilities location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support daily operations through strong customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out site-specific procedures, access activity support, and appropriate emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and unusual conditions in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and communicating with site contacts and/or emergency services when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help identify potential concerns, support policy compliance, and report maintenance or operational issues.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or visitor information as directed by site procedures, and help support authorized access throughout the location.
  • Complete routine reports, logs, and incident documentation related to security-related activities, patrol findings, and daily operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
