Experience in a secured lobby or reception post is essential, as our receptionists are expected to serve as security professionals with significant customer-facing responsibilities. This encompasses access control, visitor processing, badge issuance and recovery, monitoring entry points and lobby behavior, and serving as the first line of security presence for employees, visitors, and executives.

Security receptionists must grasp the broader security landscape, including emergency response and evacuation procedures, incident reporting, workplace safety awareness, and seamless coordination with GSOC and patrol officers.

The essential skills we’re seeking include calm and clear verbal and written communication, the ability to provide clear directions to visitors, de-escalate tense situations, and maintain a polished appearance consistent with lobby standards. Excellent security receptionists are always observant—watching for unusual lobby behavior, tailgating attempts, badge misuse, and potential safety or security risks.

Team members should be able to remain composed under stress, follow established emergency protocols, and communicate efficiently with GSOC and first responders.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service at the front desk by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, visitor processing, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Monitor access to the location by greeting visitors, verifying identification and credentials, issuing visitor badges, and directing guests, drivers, and vendors in accordance with site protocols.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts, employees, and/or first responders as needed.
  • Maintain front desk logs, incident reports, and other required documentation, while helping to deter unauthorized access and supporting orderly entry and exit activity at the location.
  • Answer phones, support employee and visitor inquiries, and observe lobby and entry areas for unusual activity, reporting concerns according to post procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
