Security Officer (Path to Armed) – Up to $20.55 / hr

Location: St. Louis, MO

Allied Universal is hiring Security Officers who are motivated to grow into an armed role within six months. This position offers a clear advancement path, allowing you to begin in an unarmed capacity and increase your earnings upon successful completion of armed certification requirements.


Pay That Grows With You

  • Starting Pay: $18.93/hr (Unarmed)

  • Increased Pay: $20.55/hr (Upon becoming armed within 6 months)


Pay Rate: $18.93 / Hour

How This Role Works:

  • Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
  • Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to all persons at the location while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities for an armed post.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns through proper channels.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, grounds, and perimeter, remaining alert to unusual activity, unauthorized access, and/or conditions that could impact operations.
  • Monitor access points and verify credentials, visitor activity, deliveries, and/or vehicle movement in accordance with site protocols for a chemical and petrochemical location.
  • Support incident response by helping to deter unwanted activity, assisting with evacuations or restricted-area control when needed, and maintaining a visible armed presence throughout assigned areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
