Job Description


As a Security Officer - Unarmed Education Site Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at an educational location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help deter security-related incidents, and support students, staff, and visitors with strong customer service and clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, classrooms, common areas, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points, verify identification and/or visitor authorization as required, and document entries, exits, and deliveries per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts, coordinating with site leadership, and contacting emergency services when appropriate.
  • Complete detailed reports on incidents, observations, and patrol activity, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site representatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
  • Be able to lift more than 20 lbs preferred.
  • Have a guard card/license preferred.
  • Have customer service experience preferred.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
