Job Description


As a Security Officer - Residential Patrol Driver in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer in a healthcare location, you will conduct routine rounds, maintain a visible presence to help to deter security-related incidents, and support patients, visitors, and staff with clear communication and customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and urgent situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including supporting de-escalation and requesting additional resources as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of hospital buildings, corridors, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards, maintenance issues, and policy concerns.
  • Monitor access points and public areas, assist with visitor directions and wayfinding, and help to maintain orderly movement in lobbies, waiting areas, and other high-traffic zones.
  • Document and report incidents, observations, and patrol activities, and communicate with site leadership, nursing staff, and local responders according to post orders and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • A Guard Card and/or security-related license is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
