Job Description


As a Security Officer - Facility Entry Screening in Indianapolis, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As a Screener with Allied Universal at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help support security-related operations by conducting screening checkpoints, verifying credentials and badges, and monitoring access points for people and packages. You will stay visible, communicate clearly with employees, drivers, and visitors, and document unusual activity. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to client personnel, drivers, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Screen employees, visitors, and contractors for prohibited items using site screening procedures, including directing individuals through screening equipment and/or conducting authorized inspections of bags, parcels, and personal items.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, validating appointments and/or access lists, issuing visitor credentials, and documenting entries and exits per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, notifying supervision and/or client contacts, and completing detailed reports.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility, dock areas, parking lots, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and report hazards and/or suspicious conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Loss prevention experience is preferred.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
