Job Description


As a Security Officer - Asset Protection in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, and more. As a Security Officer at a busy commercial real estate location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will support tenants and visitors with strong customer service, clear communication, and timely reporting while using basic computer and/or tablet tools. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, contractors and/or property management by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, requests for assistance and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate contacts and documenting actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the commercial property, including interior common areas, exterior grounds, entrances, parking areas and/or loading and dock locations to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Control access to the location by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials as directed, managing visitor check-in and/or directing foot and vehicle traffic.
  • Complete required reports such as incident reports, patrol logs and/or maintenance observations, and communicate notable activity to Allied Universal supervision and site leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds, preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
