Job Description


As a Security Officer - Unarmed - Campus Site in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a higher education location, you will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols as a driving post, stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with clear communication and customer service. You will document activity, respond to concerns, and support a welcoming campus atmosphere while living our agile, reliable, innovative, people-first, integrity-driven approach through teamwork.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within an education location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, and exterior perimeters to help to discourage unwanted activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and interior areas, observe for unusual conditions, and report maintenance hazards, suspicious activity, and/or policy concerns to the appropriate campus contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, providing direction to occupants and coordinating with site leadership and/or public partners as needed.
  • Complete shift reports and incident documentation, communicate post updates during shift turnover, and assist with security-related administrative tasks such as keys, badges, and visitor logs as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
