Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Area Patrol in Birmingham, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an armed patrol officer supporting a government transit location, where you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and assist riders and staff with clear, professional communication. You will respond to concerns, document activities, and work closely with site partners using teamwork and integrity. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to riders, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at government transit facilities.
  • Patrol transit centers, parking areas, platforms, and surrounding perimeter areas on a regular and random basis to help to deter unwanted activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, coordinating with site leadership and/or public law enforcement, and following post orders.
  • Control access to restricted areas, monitor for suspicious behavior or prohibited items, and maintain a visible armed presence in accordance with Allied Universal policies and applicable laws.
  • Complete detailed reports and logs, document incidents and observed hazards, and communicate status updates using radios, phones, and other approved communication systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a concealed carry weapons permit.
  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Handcuffing certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
