Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Rover in Suffolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a healthcare location, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to situations with calm, professional communication. You will support patients, visitors, and staff through strong customer service while documenting observations and reporting concerns. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control requirements, and when appropriate, emergency response activities in a healthcare location.
  • Respond to alarms, calls for assistance, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with nursing staff, administration, and law enforcement as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of interior areas such as lobbies, corridors, parking areas, and the exterior perimeter, watching for conditions that could lead to incidents and reporting concerns per post orders.
  • Control entry points by verifying identification, managing visitor check-in processes, monitoring restricted areas, and directing individuals to appropriate departments while maintaining professional communication.
  • Document patrol activity, incidents, and observed conditions in written and/or electronic reports, and assist with evidence preservation by maintaining chain of custody for security-related items when required by policy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an armed guard card/license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Baton certification is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
