Job Description


As a Security Officer - Foot Patrol in Richmond, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Allied Universal Patrol Officer at a leading tech and telecom location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will document observations, communicate clearly with site teams, and assist visitors and employees with a customer-first approach. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, employees, and visitors by carrying out site-specific policies, access procedures, and when appropriate, emergency response activities in a large tech location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of interior workspaces, loading and delivery areas, parking areas, and the exterior perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor alarms, surveillance systems, and entry points; respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and escalate to Allied Universal supervision and/or local authorities as required by post orders.
  • Control access by verifying credentials, directing visitors and contractors to proper destinations, and supporting orderly queuing and check-in processes during peak shift changes and high-traffic periods.
  • Complete detailed daily activity reports, incident reports, and shift handoffs; document observations and follow up on maintenance and security-related concerns according to site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred.
  • Guard Card and/or license preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer and/or tablet preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
