Job Description


As a Security Guard - Unarmed - Campus - Full Time in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed, driving Patrol Officer at a higher education location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, respond to calls for service, and assist students, staff, and visitors with a calm, customer-first approach. You will complete reports, communicate clearly, and support access control and other security-related procedures. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and/or visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, and perimeter routes; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor entrances, corridors, and exterior areas for unusual activity, access issues, and/or policy violations; document observations and report concerns to site leadership and/or appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation, directing foot traffic, and/or coordinating notifications for medical, fire, and/or law enforcement response.
  • Complete accurate shift documentation such as patrol logs and incident reports, and communicate handoffs to the next shift to help support continuity of security-related operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21+ years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
