Job Description


As a Security Officer - Unarmed Academic Patrol in CHICAGO, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal at an educational location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols on foot and/or by bike, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. Your role involves providing exceptional customer service and communication while supporting a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, students, faculty, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and when appropriate, responding to emergency situations.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including both interior and exterior areas, to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential issues.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access and report any suspicious activity.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the location to help to deter potential disruptions and provide assistance as needed.
  • Document and report security-related incidents, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns according to site procedures.
  • Collaborate with location staff, Allied Universal management, and/or local authorities as required to address incidents or emergencies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Provide proof of high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be able to ride a bike.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
