Job Description


As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol Lead in Long Island City, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated shelter locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while providing a reassuring presence. Your role involves conducting routine patrols, remaining highly visible, and delivering exceptional customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations as appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner to support the well-being of individuals at the location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and maintain a visible presence.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to observe for unusual or prohibited behavior.
  • Document and report security-related incidents, hazards, and suspicious activity according to Allied Universal guidelines.
  • Assist visitors, residents, and staff with questions or concerns related to security-related matters at the location.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff and other personnel to address security-related needs and support a welcoming environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of high school diploma or GED is required by the client.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR and/or first aid certification is preferred.
  • Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
