Job Description


As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol - Weekends in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer at a shelter location, you will actively monitor and patrol assigned areas, remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents and promote a welcoming environment. You will interact with residents and visitors, providing outstanding customer service and clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at the shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, assisting residents and staff as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the shelter facility and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and promote a secure environment.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access and support security-related protocols.
  • Document and report any unusual activity, incidents, or security-related concerns according to Allied Universal and site-specific guidelines.
  • Communicate professionally with shelter staff, residents, and visitors to address inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and respond to alarms or emergencies in accordance with established procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
