Job Description


As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol Evening in BROOKLYN, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated areas within a shelter location, helping to deter security-related incidents and maintaining a welcoming environment for all. You will conduct regular patrols, remain highly visible, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and residents by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities within the shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following Allied Universal protocols and site guidelines.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and support a secure environment.
  • Observe and report any unusual activity, property damage, or potential hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with shelter residents, staff, and visitors to address questions or concerns related to security-related matters.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports and daily activity logs as required by Allied Universal and site-specific procedures.
  • Assist in controlling access to the location by verifying identification and/or credentials as needed.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response efforts by following established protocols during drills and real emergencies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • CPR or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
