Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Retail Patrols in Austin, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will actively monitor and patrol retail locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and staff. Your presence and customer-focused approach will support a secure environment, and your armed status will enhance your ability to respond to security-related situations. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols for armed personnel.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the retail location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter theft, vandalism, and other unwanted behaviors.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate reports of daily activities, observations, and incidents as required by Allied Universal and the site.
  • Work collaboratively with retail staff and local law enforcement as needed to address incidents and/or emergencies.
  • Remain alert and aware of surroundings at all times, adapting to changing conditions within the retail environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 3 or more years of combined law enforcement, military, or security-related experience or possess a college degree.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a Level III armed certification for Texas.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • An armed guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
