Job Description


As a Security Officer - Unarmed School Patrol in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will help to deter security-related incidents by conducting regular patrols and maintaining a visible presence at dynamic education and tech or media locations. You will interact with staff, visitors, and guests, providing exceptional customer service and communication while supporting a welcoming environment. Pay Rate: $22.06 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, which may include educational facilities and/or media and technology environments.
  • Observe for unusual or suspicious activity and report findings according to site protocols.
  • Assist visitors, employees, and/or students by providing information and directions as needed.
  • Support access control measures by monitoring entry and exit points as required by the site.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with Allied Universal management, client contacts, and local authorities when necessary.
  • Document all incidents, observations, and activities in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of security-related experience is required.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
