Job Description


As a Security Guard – Armed School Patrols in Austin, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Patrol Armed Officer with Allied Universal, you will help to deter security-related incidents by conducting routine patrols and maintaining a visible presence within an educational environment. Your role involves monitoring assigned areas, responding to incidents, and providing outstanding customer service and communication. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $24.00 / Hour + 4.22 per hour for health and welfare

Paid vacation + Sick time

Must be able to pass a federal background check, physical and PT test

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities as directed by Allied Universal.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, utilizing appropriate protocols for an armed patrol role.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and support a secure environment.
  • Monitor and report any suspicious activity, hazards, or unusual occurrences observed during patrols.
  • Interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to provide assistance and information as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and remain alert to potential security-related concerns specific to an educational environment.
  • Assist with access control and enforce location policies as required.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports regarding incidents, observations, and activities during assigned shifts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 3 or more years of combined law enforcement, military, or security-related experience or possess a college degree.
  • Hold a Level III armed certification for Texas.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
