Job Description


As a Security Officer - Mall Unarmed Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol retail locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while providing outstanding customer service. You will remain visible throughout your assigned area, support access control, and communicate with guests and staff to foster a welcoming environment. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, adhering to site-specific policies, and responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail location and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential concerns.
  • Observe and report any unusual activity or security-related incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with access control by monitoring entrances and exits, verifying credentials, and greeting visitors as appropriate.
  • Support store personnel and visitors by providing directions and general assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and/or emergency responders when required.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs and reports of daily activities and incidents encountered during patrols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Loss prevention experience is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
