Job Description


As a Board-Armed Certified Guardian Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding students, staff, and school facilities. In this specialized position, you will utilize your Guardian certification and advanced training to provide a visible, proactive presence on campus and in surrounding designated areas. Your responsibilities include conducting ongoing patrols, monitoring for potential threats, and responding swiftly and appropriately to safety or emergency situations.  You will maintain a consistent safety presence to deter incidents, support crisis-response efforts, and uphold all district and state Guardian Program regulations. Strong communication, professionalism, and a calm, confident demeanor are essential as you interact with students, faculty, and school leadership.  As part of our team, you will join a culture rooted in integrity, preparedness, and community protection. $1000 Hiring Bonus (Must be on the job for at least 3 months)

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Qualifications for a Board-Armed Certified Guardian Officer

Required Certifications & Credentials

  • Must hold a valid School Board Guardian Certification through the approved county Guardian Program

  • Must meet all requirements outlined under Florida Statute §1006.12

  • Valid State of Florida Class “D” Security License

  • Valid State of Florida Class “G” Firearm License

  • Valid State of Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Completion of active shooter response training (law enforcement-led)

  • Successful completion of a psychological evaluation as required by statute

  • Successful completion of a drug screen, physical exam, and background investigation

Training & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum 144 hours of Guardian Program training, including:

    • Firearms proficiency

    • Defensive tactics

    • Active assailant response

    • Trauma care/first responder training

    • Legal considerations & use of force

  • Demonstrated proficiency with firearms (qualification required)

  • Ability to de-escalate conflicts while maintaining safety

  • Strong situational awareness and threat assessment skills

  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive during emergencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

    Experience (Preferred)

    • Prior experience in law enforcement, military, school security, or protective services

    • Previous work in school environments or youth-centered settings

    • Crisis intervention or emergency management experience

    • Reliable, punctual, and disciplined

    • Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with staff, students, and parents

    • Physically capable of performing patrol duties and responding rapidly to incidents

    • Ability to follow protocols, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to district policies

    Other Requirements

    • Must pass all ongoing requalification, firearms accuracy standards, and continuous training as required by the program

    • Must be able to work assigned school hours and special events as needed

    • Must maintain compliance with all school district, state, and program-specific regulations
