Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Shift in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As a Patrol Armed Officer with Allied Universal at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, helping to deter security-related incidents and maintain a secure environment. Your presence will be key in supporting daily operations while providing outstanding customer service and communication. This armed position is ideal for professionals who value teamwork, integrity, and a people-first culture in a dynamic setting.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, as well as responding to emergency situations as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the industrial and manufacturing location, including interior and perimeter areas, to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or suspicious behavior.
  • Monitor access points and control entry into restricted areas, verifying credentials and reporting any irregularities according to Allied Universal protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs and reports of daily activities, incidents, and observations encountered during patrols.
  • Assist in the implementation of emergency response plans and provide support to personnel during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors in a courteous and professional manner, providing information and assistance as appropriate.
  • Remain alert and aware of surroundings while on patrol, promptly reporting any hazards, security-related concerns, or maintenance issues encountered on site.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
