What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, guests, and residents by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, as well as responding to emergencies when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its surrounding perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential concerns.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to observe and report any unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Document and report incidents, observations, and interactions according to Allied Universal and site-specific protocols.
  • Assist shelter staff and residents as needed while maintaining a visible presence to help to deter disruptions.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with all individuals on site, supporting a welcoming environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
