Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Cultural Facility in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will help to deter security-related incidents and support a welcoming environment at a location serving cultural and community needs. You will conduct regular patrols, maintain a visible presence, and engage with individuals on site to provide exceptional customer service and communication. Your role will contribute to a secure atmosphere while upholding the values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity that define Allied Universal.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide excellent customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when required, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner to support a secure environment.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location and its perimeter, remaining alert to any suspicious activity and/or security-related concerns.
  • Carry out duties as an armed security professional in accordance with local laws and Allied Universal policies.
  • Help to deter unauthorized activities and/or disturbances by maintaining a visible presence throughout the location.
  • Document observations and/or incidents as required by Allied Universal procedures and client-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with staff and visitors to address security-related questions and promote a welcoming environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience is required.
  • An armed guard card or license is required.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security-related training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
