Job Description


As a Security Professional - Unarmed Shelter Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol assigned shelter locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all residents and guests. Your visible presence, strong communication skills, and commitment to exceptional customer service will contribute to a secure environment. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and responding appropriately to emergencies when needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and maintain a visible security-related presence.
  • Document and report any incidents, unusual activities, or maintenance needs observed during patrols to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with shelter staff and occupants in a respectful and professional manner to support a welcoming environment.
  • Follow instructions and directives from Allied Universal management and the shelter's designated contacts regarding security-related matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
