Job Description


As a Security Officer - Shopping Center Patrol in Nottingham, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal at a retail and mall location, you will help to deter security-related incidents by conducting routine patrols of the property and remaining highly visible to guests and tenants. Your presence and outstanding customer service skills will support a welcoming environment, while you assist with inquiries and respond to situations as needed. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at the retail or mall location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, supporting the overall security-related efforts of the location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail or mall premises and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and provide a visible Allied Universal presence.
  • Observe and report any irregularities such as security-related breaches, property damage, or suspicious behavior to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support access control measures by monitoring entry and exit points as required by site-specific protocols.
  • Assist with crowd control and/or visitor management during peak hours or special events as needed.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency response personnel when situations arise, following established protocols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
