Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed - Hospital Patrol in Reading, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will actively monitor and patrol a dynamic manufacturing and industrial location, helping to deter security-related incidents and maintaining a visible presence throughout the area. Your role involves conducting routine patrols, engaging with individuals on-site, and providing exceptional customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and perimeter, helping to deter unauthorized activity in a manufacturing and industrial environment.
  • Monitor and control access points to help maintain the integrity of restricted areas.
  • Observe and report any irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Work in a professional manner while interacting with employees, visitors, and/or contractors at the location.
  • Handle and carry a firearm as required by the post profile, following all applicable laws and Allied Universal protocols.
  • Document incidents and relevant activities in detailed reports as required by site-specific procedures.
  • Assist Allied Universal management and/or law enforcement authorities in responding to emergencies and supporting investigations when requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of armed security, law enforcement, or military experience is required.
  • Act 235 qualification is required for positions in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A valid firearms permit is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
