Job Description


As a Security Guard - Shelter Patrols Full-Time in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Security Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will actively monitor and patrol assigned areas to help to deter security-related incidents and promote a welcoming atmosphere. Your visible presence and attentive communication will play a key role in creating a secure environment for all individuals on site. By providing outstanding customer service and responding promptly to any concerns, you will contribute to Allied Universal's values of reliability, teamwork, and integrity while making a positive impact on the community.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, participating in emergency response activities within the shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining a composed presence in the shelter.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and around the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and support a secure environment for residents and staff.
  • Observe and report any unusual activities, security-related hazards, or conditions to Allied Universal management and shelter leadership as needed.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the property to help to deter unauthorized individuals and/or activities.
  • Document all security-related incidents, interactions, and daily activities according to Allied Universal and site-specific procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff and residents to promote a welcoming and respectful environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • State, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
