Job Description


As a Security Officer - Shelter Evening Patrols Full-Time in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated shelter locations, remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents and promote a welcoming environment. You will engage in routine patrols, provide access control support, and deliver top-notch customer service to residents and visitors. Your presence and communication skills will contribute to a positive atmosphere, reflecting Allied Universal’s values of agility, reliability, and integrity. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and residents by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within the shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, assisting with conflict resolution and de-escalation as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and promote a secure atmosphere.
  • Document and report any unusual observations or incidents according to Allied Universal protocols.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized individuals from accessing restricted areas.
  • Communicate with shelter staff, residents, and visitors in a professional manner to provide guidance on site policies and procedures.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response initiatives by participating in drills and assisting during emergencies when required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
