Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Government Patrol in EDISON, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas to help maintain a secure environment. Your visible presence will help to deter security-related incidents while you deliver outstanding customer service and clear communication. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $22.61 / Hour Plus an an addional $5.55 / Hour for Federal Health and Welfare

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by performing security-related procedures and following site-specific policies and guidelines, as well as responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations within the government location in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the facility and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and promote a secure environment.
  • Monitor access points and verify that only authorized personnel enter restricted areas, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports and document any unusual activities or security-related issues encountered during patrols.
  • Engage with visitors, employees, and/or contractors to provide assistance, information, and directions as required.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency responders if situations escalate or as directed by site procedures.
  • Remain alert to potential security-related threats or hazards and promptly communicate any concerns to Allied Universal management or site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a New Jersey RPO Certificate.
  • An Armed Guard Card or License is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
