Job Description


As a Security Guard - Telecom Access Control in West Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in monitoring and managing entry points at a dynamic technology-focused location. Your presence and routine patrols will help to deter security-related incidents while offering exceptional customer service to everyone on site. You will interact with visitors and employees, utilize security technology, and respond to incidents as needed. What You'll Do:

  • Monitor and manage access control points to help to deter unauthorized entry at the location.
  • Verify credentials of employees, visitors, and contractors, maintaining detailed records as required by site-specific procedures.
  • Provide customer service by offering clear directions and assistance to clients and visitors.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and perimeter to observe and report any unusual activity.
  • Collaborate with Allied Universal and client personnel to address security-related concerns and maintain a visible presence.
  • Follow site-specific policies and procedures, adapting to the unique requirements of a technology, media, or telecom environment.
  • Participate in emergency response activities when appropriate, assisting with evacuations or other urgent procedures as directed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of security-related experience is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
