As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol Licensed in East Elmhurst, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will help to deter security-related incidents and provide peace of mind to residents and staff in a shelter location. Your responsibilities include conducting routine patrols, staying highly visible, and delivering outstanding customer service as you interact with individuals throughout your assigned areas. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, residents, and/or visitors by following security-related procedures and site-specific policies, as well as taking part in emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations at the shelter in a calm, problem-solving manner to help maintain order.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and provide a visible Allied Universal presence.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unwanted behavior and report any unusual occurrences.
  • Document and report security-related incidents, maintenance issues, and/or policy violations as observed during patrols or while on post.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff and other Allied Universal personnel to support a respectful and orderly environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
