Job Description


As a Security Officer - Armed Tech/Media Patrol 21+ in Reston, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will help to deter security-related incidents by conducting routine patrols throughout a dynamic technology-focused location. Your high visibility and proactive presence will contribute to a secure environment, while your commitment to outstanding customer service and communication will foster positive interactions. What You'll Do:

  • Provide excellent customer service by following security-related procedures and site-specific policies as directed by Allied Universal.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm and problem-solving manner, using appropriate escalation and communication protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the location and its perimeter, remaining alert to conditions or situations that may require security-related intervention.
  • Assist in access control by verifying credentials and helping to help deter unauthorized entry into restricted areas.
  • Support emergency response activities, following established protocols to help protect people and property, and report incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  • Document and report any unusual activity or security-related incidents encountered during patrols to Allied Universal management, including hazards found on site.
  • Maintain a visible presence to help deter criminal activity and foster a secure environment for employees, visitors, and assets at the location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience is required.
  • An armed guard card or license is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
