Job Description


As a Security Officer - Government Building Patrol in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated government locations, helping to deter security-related incidents through your presence and proactive engagement. You will conduct routine patrols, remain attentive to your surroundings, and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining clear communication with visitors and staff. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and responding appropriately during emergency situations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm and problem-solving manner to support a secure environment.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the property and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity or potential issues.
  • Observe and report any suspicious activities, hazards, or security-related incidents encountered during patrol duties.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, visitors, and Allied Universal management regarding security-related matters.
  • Assist with access control by monitoring entry and exit points as required by site-specific protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities as directed by site policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Security Professional Guard Card is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
