Job Description


As a Security Officer - Utilities Patrol Driver in FAIRFAX, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As a Patrol Officer at a utilities location, you will help to deter security-related incidents by conducting regular vehicle patrols and maintaining a visible presence throughout the property. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring assigned areas, interacting with visitors and staff, and delivering outstanding customer service. This is a driving post, so a valid driver's license is required. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or identify potential concerns. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and other access points to help to deter unauthorized entry and/or suspicious activities.
  • Observe and report any unusual or suspicious activity, maintenance issues, or security-related hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of activities, incidents, and/or observations as required by Allied Universal and client protocols.
  • Assist visitors and employees with inquiries and provide directions as needed, maintaining a professional and courteous presence at all times.
  • Follow all company procedures and site-specific guidelines to help to deter incidents and maintain a secure environment for employees and visitors at utility locations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Experience providing customer service is preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and/or First Aid is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
