As a Security Officer - Government Access Control in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer, where you'll help to create a secure environment at a high-profile government location. Your responsibilities will include monitoring entrances, conducting routine patrols, and maintaining a visible presence to help deter potential security-related incidents. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Monitor access points to help to deter unauthorized entry and confirm identification credentials according to location protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter suspicious activity and identify potential security-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities, incidents, and any access control breaches according to Allied Universal guidelines.
  • Communicate with Allied Universal management and location personnel regarding any concerns or unusual activity.
  • Assist visitors, contractors, and employees with access procedures while following established protocols for the location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required.
  • A valid Guard Card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
