Job Description


As a Security Officer - Retail Mall Patrols in East Granby, CT, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in helping to deter security-related incidents and providing a welcoming environment at a busy retail location. Your responsibilities include conducting routine patrols, staying highly visible to support a secure atmosphere, and offering excellent customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations as appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner to support the ongoing security-related needs of the location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail environment and its perimeter, being observant of any unusual activity or potential security-related concerns.
  • Help to deter unauthorized activities and/or behavior by maintaining a visible presence throughout the location.
  • Communicate promptly and clearly with Allied Universal management and/or local authorities as needed regarding incidents or issues encountered during patrols.
  • Complete required reports and documentation related to patrols, incidents, and other security-related activities in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company and client site procedures, including those related to access control, loss prevention, and emergency response.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Experience with access control and/or badge systems is preferred.
  • A valid Security Professional Guard Card or license is preferred, subject to state and/or local requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
