Job Description


As a Security Officer - Corrections Patrol Team in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Corrections, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will actively monitor and patrol designated correctional facility areas, helping to deter security-related incidents and maintaining a secure environment. Your visible presence and routine patrols contribute to a positive atmosphere where strong communication and exceptional customer service are valued. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients at a corrections location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the corrections facility and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activities and observe for unusual conditions.
  • Monitor and report any irregularities, such as security breaches or property damage, according to site procedures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with facility staff and visitors as appropriate, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Complete required reports and logs to document observations and incidents during the shift.
  • Follow all Allied Universal and site-specific policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have at least 2 years of security-related experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
