Job Description


As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol Lead - Full Time in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol designated shelter locations to help create a secure environment for residents and staff. Your presence and routine patrols will help to deter security-related incidents while you provide outstanding customer service and clear communication. You'll interact with individuals throughout the location, respond to situations as they arise, and assist in maintaining order, all while upholding our values of integrity, teamwork, and putting people first. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the shelter location and its perimeter, adapting to varying working environments and conditions.
  • Observe for suspicious activity and report any incidents, hazards, or unusual circumstances to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist residents, staff, and visitors with inquiries and directions, maintaining a professional and approachable presence.
  • Document security-related activities and incidents according to site protocols.
  • Support Allied Universal operations by following post orders and maintaining communication with supervisory staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Experience with access control and/or badge systems is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
