As a Security Professional - Shelter Center - Part Time in BROOKLYN, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Part-Time Security Officer, you’ll use our exclusive Claim a Shift platform to view and Pick up open shifts based on your availability—giving you the freedom to build a schedule that works for you, while gaining valuable site experience across various industries. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol designated areas to help to deter security-related incidents and create a welcoming environment for residents and staff. Your presence and proactive approach will contribute to the overall sense of comfort within the community. You will interact regularly with individuals on-site, offering exceptional customer service and clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and residents by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or potential hazards.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter disruptive behavior and/or unauthorized access.
  • Document and report all incidents, observations, and/or irregularities according to site procedures.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with shelter staff, residents, and visitors while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Assist with implementing and following security-related protocols specific to the shelter environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • A valid guard card or security license is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
