Job Description


As a Security Officer -  Shelter Center - Full Time in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in helping to deter security-related incidents and promote a welcoming environment at a shelter location. Your responsibilities include conducting routine patrols, remaining visible throughout the facility, and providing outstanding customer service to all individuals on site. By fostering positive interactions and communicating clearly, you will help support a caring and people-first atmosphere. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and responding to emergencies as appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly, using problem-solving skills to address the needs of the location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and promote a secure environment.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas within the shelter to observe and report any unusual activity or potential concerns.
  • Communicate with shelter staff and residents in a professional manner while upholding Allied Universal standards.
  • Document and report all security-related incidents, observations, and activities according to site protocols.
  • Assist in managing access control for authorized personnel and visitors at the shelter location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • State, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
